Students involved in the Odyssey of the Mind (OM) program annually pack up cars and vans full of props to travel to compete at various levels. But, next spring, area students who advance to the state competition won't have to travel far.

Proposed final WASD budget shows .55-mill tax hike (The Williamsport Sun-Gazette)

Residents in the Williamsport Area School District will see a .55-mill tax increase in property taxes for the 2008-09 school year, under a proposed final budget adopted by the board on Tuesday. Under the proposed budget, the real estate tax will be 13.5 mills, up from 12.95 mills in 2007-08. Earned income tax will be 1.5 percent and real estate transfer tax will be 0.50 percent.

WILLIAMSPORT -- The Gallery at Penn College, on the third floor of Pennsylvania College of Technology's Madigan Library, will hold a graphic design student portfolio exhibit from May 2-13.
